CO2DeepStore is developing quickly, creating some fascinating opportunities for professional technical staff.
CO2DeepStore are interested to hear from energetic professionals who share our strong motivation to "Put Something Back" and work to reduce the worst effects of climate change.
Whilst this is a fascinating opportunity there are significant challenges ahead:-
- The whole market is dependent on focussed international action under the Kyoto Protocol, and its successor that was initiated in Bali in 2007.
- The legislation and regulation allowing CO2 storage to be done will not be finalised until late 2008 or early 2009.
- The EU Emissions Trading Scheme, that we will depend on for revenues, is relatively new, and is evolving rapidly.
Right now we have a requirement for
- An experienced process engineer (10+ years experience) - ideally with experience and knowledge of power generation, amine gas separation processes, pipelines and compressors and CO2 phase behaviour.
- An experienced environmentalist (10+ years experience) - with knowledge of onshore and offshore environmental legislation and regulation, and with good numeracy skills to enable them to help develop some of the complex CO2 tracking systems that will be required.
- An experienced petroleum engineer (10+ years experience) - interested in applying their knowledge of wells and reservoir management in an unusual application. A significant issue we face is to understand the practical storage capacity and to demonstrate to the regulator that the CO2 disposal is permanent.
- An experienced geoscientist (10+ years experience) interested in applying their knowledge of reservoir evaluation, regional geology management in an unusual application. A significant issue we face is to understand the practical storage capacity and to demonstrate to the regulator that the CO2 disposal is permanent.
